Grand Canyon senior Israel Oloyede won the men's weight throw with a lifetime-best 80-2.75 (24.45m) in the third round to secure the world-leading mark at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Invitational, hosted by New Mexico, at the Albuquerque Convention Center. Oloyede elevated to the No. 5 all-time collegiate competitor, in addition to contributing to a first in Division 1 history, with his effort marking the first time that the NCAA has produced 80-foot performers in three consecutive years, following Gleb Dudarev of Kansas in 2020 and Thomas Mardal of Florida in 2021.
